Paramedics and Emergency room doctors have told us that a lack of medical information and history delays their ability to treat patients in need of emergency medical attention. With their participation, we developed a practical solution. It’s called the Care Link Medical Information File.

This vinyl pouch has a magnet on the back and attaches to your refrigerator door. Inside is a two-sided card that you fill in with your medical history as well as a list of medications. The paramedics are familiar with this program, and the decal on your front and side door, let them know that you participate in this program and that they can find your Care Link Medical Information File on your refrigerator door.

We rolled this program out in Sudbury, North Bay, Timmins and the County of Haliburton and to date have more than 37,000 Care Link Medical Information Files distributed and in use.

When patients present themselves to the Emergency Department, the stress they are under as a result of their medical crisis makes it very difficult for them to recall the detail of their medical history and medications that they are on. This (Carelink Emergency Medical File) has proven to be such a valuable tool at a time when people are most vulnerable.
